The Monday night storm produced 2-4 inches. Rich and Eric were up on Tuesday and snowmobile groomed across Scales Lake Road to Tower and around Dog Loop. It is groomed for skate but classic tracks will need to be skied in. They also ran the snowmobiles with rollers around Skyway's Vista Loop, Sunset and Arroyo, but there are many hazards and those trails are not yet open.
The next moisture-starved storm brings a chance of light snow Thursday afternoon into Friday morning. Accumulations are expected to be light. After that it is dry through the weekend and into early December.
With a thin snowpack and no good storms on the horizon please treat the groomed trails with care. Leave Skyway dog free. Skaters, please help preserve the skied-in classic track. Snowshoers, please walk to side of the trail. Let's all be thankful we have this lovely resource to get out and breathe deep and be healthy.
Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for supporting the GMNC.
* Skiing in the time of COVID-19: the GMNC recognizes the importance of outdoor recreation opportunities for our physical and mental health. We intend to groom trails through the season unless there is some unforeseeable dangerous conditions. That said, the GMNC will strictly follow all guidance from the CDC, USFS, state of Colorado, and Mesa/Delta Counties. https://health.mesacounty.us/covid19/
