New! Advanced Level Ski Clinic Series

Skyway Trailhead on Highway 65, Grand Mesa National Forest, Mesa County, Colorado
Sundays:

  • December 1, 2019
  • December 15, 2019
  • January 5, 2020

Step up your game with Dave Aschwanden, the Head Coach of Colorado Mesa University (CMU) Nordic Team, Gwynn Barrows, Assistant Coach, and CMU Nordic Team veterans.

This clinic series includes 3 full days of on-snow instruction for advanced cross-country ski technique and training concepts: speed, endurance, strength, agility. One group will be formed for race-oriented skiers and will include race tactics and tips on how to be organized and prepared to perform your best on race day.

Schedule:
10:00 AM – 3:00 PM with one-hour lunch break

The full day clinics begin at 10:00 am. Please arrive early to check in and be dressed, geared up and ready to ski as clinics will begin promptly. The schedule for each clinic day includes a morning ski clinic in classic technique, a one hour BYO lunch break, and an afternoon ski clinic in skate ski technique. The on snow clinics will conclude at approximately 3:00 pm.

Who is this clinic series for?

These clinics are open to intermediate, advanced and expert skiers only that are in good physical shape and have been training or exercising regularly over the summer and fall.

  • Intermediate skiers: seldom fall, can balance completely on one foot/ski most of the time and can turn at intermediate speeds
  • Advanced and expert skiers: have excellent balance and turning skills at all speeds

Clinics will be taught in both classic and skate techniques. Although we highly recommend training in both techniques, we may be able to accommodate classic only or skate only skiers.

There will be one group for race-oriented skiers and will include race tactics, race day preparation, course reading and mass start strategies.

Fee for the clinic series: $120 for GMNC members; $180 for non-members
