They’re off and running for our annual snow dance disguised as a 10K trail race!
Ignoring the threat of rain (didn’t happen!) but enticed by the start of Fall color season (it was gorgeous!), runners and walkers turned out enthusiastically for the annual Run for Snow. For its debut, Skyway Station was a big hit as an event base providing a warm and dry place to gather before and after the race. Gearhead Outfitters and Chill Switch Winery donated door prizes for extra incentive.
Isaac Stanley and Sue Finney led the pack as runners tested a new course this year. Despite being a little longer than the announced 10K, it was scenic, challenging and mostly dry! Everyone seemed to like the route even though some, as always, came in gasping from the altitude. The solid turnout means we now have some gas money for the snowcat once the snow flies. Now we’ll see if our snow dance is effective. Our next race will be on skis!
