Calling for volunteers! Skiing is just around the corner and that means it’s fall trail work season.
Volunteer days will take place on Wednesdays — September 1, 8, 15, 22. If additional work is needed we will plan on a Wednesday and Saturday in October, to be determined. We appreciate everyone who wants to come out and help.
Use our volunteer form to sign up. Direct questions to Volunteers@gmnc.org.
Details:
September 1 we will be painting blue poles at the Skyway Trailhead. 20-30 blue poles will be painted, so wear your painting clothes. Start time is 9:30 AM. Bring your own water and lunch please.
September 8, 15, and 22: we will be installing and repairing poles—walking all trails. We will also be replacing and installing new blue diamonds, and working on our snowshoe trail. And last but not least, lots of brush cutting! At least one day will be at the Ward system, one at County Line and one day at Skyway. Updated details will be sent to volunteers who sign up, and they’ll also be posted on our social media (Facebook and Instagram) pages.
So far we have only a few downed trees and we will get those marked on maps to send out a chain saw crew. There may be other “pop-up” volunteer days for stump cutting, rock removal, and Summit Trail widening—to be determined.
