The NWS has upgraded the winter storm watch for the Grand Mesa to a winter storm warning from 5pm Friday to 5 pm Saturday! We can expect 12″-18″ of new snow from the storm which should taper off sometime Saturday. The NWS also tells us we may still get snow showers on Saturday and of course, breezy conditions with a high of 14F. Sunday looks a little warmer with a high of 19F, mostly sunny and hopefully calm winds.
We will start grooming early Saturday morning provided the road is open. 18″ or more is a lot of snow to clear and CDOT does a great job but it does take some time. We recommend starting later in the day on Saturday to give the groomers and snow plows time to get their work done. As a minimum for Saturday and Sunday, we will have Scales Lake Rd, Tower, Dog Loop and the Skyway practice loops groomed. If all goes well, we will also open Sunset, Winslow and Lions too.
