The Grand Mesa Nordic Council Board has made the decision to cease grooming activities effective March 24, 2020, due to continuing spread of coronavirus and recommendations from the health authorities and Governor’s office.
In addition, the US Forest Service has independently decided to close all trailhead bathrooms at the end of this week. The USFS wants you to know that all trailheads are still open for use.
We, the Board, are saddened by this decision and more importantly by the rampant spread of the pandemic. It is a difficult time for the world, and in our smaller world it is difficult to end our Nordic grooming early. We hope you will understand the complexity of the decision and know it was not an easy decision to make.
A big thank you to all of our groomers this season! They are the real heroes who made each and everyone’s experience skiing on our beautiful trails possible. Since we are ceasing grooming operations early for the season, we are compensating our groomers for the rest of the season as a thank you for a job well done and to ensure that any money that they may have counted on will still be paid to them.
Meanwhile, practice social distancing, stay healthy, keep in touch, and THANK YOU for all your support and understanding in this difficult time.
