Grand Mesa Nordic Masters Program

This is a ski group for proficient skiers who want to ski with others and hone advanced skills and techniques. The instruction in this group will be performance-oriented, but anyone who wants to improve their skiing ability is welcome. The group is appropriate for intermediate to advanced skiers, but is not for beginners. The group is coached by Dave and Christie Aschwanden with occasional help from Tim Carter, Chris Miller and Peter Marshall.
Jan 25: classic skiing (skate skis welcome too, can be used for the double-poling and race start drills)
How to get more out of your double-poling and double-pole kick techniques. For those of you competing in the Alley Loop on Feb 4, we will also cover how to double pole out of a mass start in the most efficient way so you get a clean start without burning all your matches.
Feb 1: skating
Uphill skating techniques: how to keep your momentum, best techniques for various hill types, cadence and poling techniques.
Subsequent topics and techniques will be scheduled and shared at least one week in advance and will include:
-Downhill ski technique (how to proficiently make step turns around downhill corners)
-Transitions (how to move in and out and between classic tracks, efficient skiing around corners, moving between various techniques)
-V2 skating technique
-Pacing and racing techniques
Exact schedule of techniques and skills will be set based on feedback and requests from participants. Coaches will work with each attendee on individual feedback. Check back here for updated schedule. Upon registration, you’ll be added to a communications lists with the latest updates.
Fee: $30 per session drop-in or sign up for the full season (six sessions) for $125
