There were about 2-5 inches of new snow in the lower Ward area this morning, 26Jan, though there was a lot of wind drift. Conditions were partly cloudy and cool (18 to 22 F). Most areas in the lower Ward Trail System are covered by 15-24 inches of snow, but a few spots, including one near the trailhead, have blown clear down to ground. The “boulder field” along Ward Trail just east of Lower Ward Reservoir is still exposed, so that part of Ward Trail is definitely not ready for grooming. Photo shows Joyce having just made some “earned turns” on “Ruth’s Hill”, not far from Junction Sign No. 8 along Ward Trail.
