Finally, the snow we’ve been waiting for!! About 10 to 14 inches of new snow on a variable base in the Upper Ward area. We had fun running some hills above Upper Ward Trail (see attached photo), but beware of shallow buried rocks on south facing slopes, where there is little base. We did notice some “whumpfing”, and Grand Mesa avalanche risk is currently rated as “considerable” by CAIC. So caution on steeper slopes is advised.
