Several of us skied in the Lower Ward area today, January 22, under sunny but cold conditions (11 to 20 F). There were perhaps about 3 to 7 inches of new snow on average. But there was lots of wind action yesterday, leaving a few spots nearly barren of snow and others with deep drifts. There is still probably not enough snow for safe grooming of Ward Trail, but it’s not too hard to avoid rocks while on skis. Trails that were tracked out today include Staircase, Ward between Lower Skinned Horse and Lower East Ward, southern East Ward Trail, the northern part of Sheep, Finney, the Overlook Route, and Lower Skinned Horse.
